MLA fetes Mormugao police for cracking Baina dacoity case

Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Friday morning felicitated the officers and staff of the Mormugao SDPO for swiftly cracking the sensational Baina dacoity case, a breakthrough achieved within six days of the incident.

The felicitation ceremony was held in Vasco in the presence of MMC Chairperson Girish Borker, councillors, members of the Vasco BJP Mandal and a large gathering of residents.

Salkar presented mementoes to the entire team, from DySP Gurudas Kadam, PI Vaibhav Naik, PSIs and other officers to the constabulary ranks, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

The gesture was aimed at acknowledging not only the senior officers but also the lesser-seen staff whose names rarely surface in major investigations despite their crucial role.

Several police personnel expressed gratitude to the MLA for recognising their hard work and for including every section of the force in the honours.

Many said the appreciation served as a morale booster, especially for those who often remain outside public recognition but contribute significantly to case detection.

Speaking at the event, Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam said it was an encouraging moment for the team.

“It feels great when people acknowledge our efforts. This felicitation is special because it honours not just senior officers but also the unsung heroes who work silently and meticulously,” he said.

MLA Krishna Salkar praised the police team for solving a high-profile case in the port town.

“The swift detection had reassured the public. The police are doing an excellent job. We have felicitated the entire team ” those on the field and those working behind the scenes ” for their dedicated service,” said Salkar.
