MLA meets CM, pushes for projects in Loliem-Polem

CANACONA

Barely a day after the ruling group at the Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) met Chief Minister, Dy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes had a separate meeting with the chief minister in Panaji on Wednesday.

According to reliable sources, Fernandes initially facilitated a meeting between a group of elected representatives from Canacona with the chief minister.

Later, Sawant and Fernandes were engaged in a private meeting for some time and while the outcome of the closed-door meeting was not known, Fernandes later came out in a jovial mood and joined others waiting outside.

At the request of Fernandes, Loliem-Polem Sarpanch Sachin Naik submitted a memorandum to the chief minister in the presence of ex-sarpanch and Panch Ajay Lolienkar, Patnem Councillor Shubham Komarpant and two residents of Loliem-Polem.

Sarpanch Sachin Naik informed The Goan that the memorandum contained a list of demands, which included a request to shift the Loliem Sub Health Centre (SHC) and the release of Octroi due to the panchayat.

“Since the last 40 years, the Loliem SHC is functioning from a local private room, which presently is in precarious position. We have requested the government to shift the SHC to a nearby building belonging to the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.”

“There are two different works each costing over Rs 60 lakh under RDA and we have requested financial approval for them. We also requested the chief minister to clear files pertaining to street lights, roads and he has assured to clear the files shortly,” said Naik.

“The chief minister advised us to work with the local MLA Isidore Fernandes and help to form the government again in 2022.”
