CANACONA
Tribal Welfare Minister and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar has said the issues facing the Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC) will be taken up with the Director of Health Services (DHS) for resolution.
Tawadkar was responding to issues raised by the Canacona Health Welfare Committee, including the demand to upgrade the CHC to a Sub-District Hospital. He said he would meet the DHS to discuss the shortage of doctors and medical staff, along with other issues affecting the CHC. He also said members of the Canacona Health Welfare Committee would be invited to attend the meeting.
During the interaction, committee chairman Diago da Silva, along with Honarato Fernandes and Barretto, apprised Tawadkar of the difficulties faced by patients at the hospital. They said they had been raising these issues for more than 15 years and recalled that Tawadkar himself had earlier demanded better health facilities at the CHC.
Residents also pointed out that during Health Minister Vishwajit Rane’s visit to Canacona, he had assured them that the issues would be resolved within 100 days.
