Speaking during a tree sapling distribution programme organised in association with the Agriculture Department, Amonkar said the projects have been taken under the Tourism Department, and the ambitious proposed Viewing Gallery project has reached the final stage of the tendering process, while plans are also underway to develop a Glass Gallery at the Japanese Garden.
He said these projects are expected to create new attractions for both tourists and local residents while showcasing the scenic beauty of Mormugao along with creating employment opportunities for locals.
The MLA further informed that beautification and illumination works at the historic Laxmi Narayan Temple are currently in progress. The project also includes the construction of a stage to facilitate cultural and religious programmes.
In addition, several locations across the constituency have been identified for the installation of four-arm streetlights and floodlights to improve illumination, enhance aesthetics, and provide a better experience for residents and visitors alike.
He added that these initiatives will contribute to the overall development of Mormugao and strengthen its identity as an emerging tourism destination.
During the programme, Amonkar distributed tree saplings to members of the public through the Agriculture Department and encouraged citizens to actively participate in tree plantation drives.
He urged every household, educational institution, and social organisation to plant and nurture trees, saying community participation is vital for creating a greener, healthier, and more sustainable Mormugao.
