MLA Tony says he was misquoted

Reacting to statements in a section of press, St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes said he was misquoted which gave an impression that he would resign blindly on the directions of his mentor Babush Monserratte.

OLD GOA: 
“What I meant was that if Monserratte asks me to quit so that he could contest in St Cruz, I am ready to sacrifice the seat for the sake of development,” said Fernandes, but added in the same tone that he would ask for some time to consult his supporters before taking any decision of quitting.   
When questioned whether Monserratte had approached him with the any such proposal, Fernandes said: “Till date, I have not received any intimation from Monserratte and everything that I am hearing is through the social media or through close associates, friends and supporters. As and when Monserratte puts forth the proposal, I will seek sufficient time to discuss the same with my supporters before deciding.”
