MARGAO
Sending a message loud and clear to the civic employees that he means business, Margao Municipal Chairperson Damu Shirodkar on Tuesday directed municipal officials to penalise an employee for not wearing the uniform.
In fact, the lady employee had to face the brunt as she was initially found in the municipal building without a uniform.
After she was questioned by the Chairperson during his routine morning rounds in the different sections, the employee was found seated wearing the uniform.
This infuriated the Chairperson who instructed the Accounts Office to levy twice the fine on the employee for not wearing the uniform when she has brought the same while reporting for duties.
“I had given enough time for the Municipal employees to wear the uniform. We have recently signed an agreement with the Union, wherein the allowance has been fixed for uniforms and washing. When the civic body is paying the uniform and washing allowances, we expect the employees and workers to report for duties in their uniform or face action,” he said.
The MMC Chairperson had last month warned the municipal employees with strict action, including deduction in the uniform and washing allowances if they don’t report for duties in the official uniform.
