Two days after the Sao Jose de Areal gram sabha was called off abruptly by the sarpanch after bedlam and uproar, gram sabha members on Tuesday called on Velim MLA Cruz Silva to seek an appointment with the Salcete BDO as well as the Director of Panchayats on the matter.
The gram sabha has also written a letter to the Salcete BDO drawing attention to the proceedings at the Sunday gram sabha and how the meeting was abruptly called off by sarpanch Linda Fernandes.
They further pointed out that the Panchayat has failed to implement the memorandum issued by the Salcete BDO on the question of video filming of the gram sabha proceedings as per the Goa Panchayat Raj Act.
Gram Sabha members drew the attention of the Velim MLA to the proceedings of the Sunday gram sabha, and how the panchayat had failed to accept the applications of the members to take up points at the meeting.
They also pointed out to the MLA that the sarpanch called off the gram sabha without any rhyme or reason and hence appealed to him to seek an appointment with the BDO and the panchayat Director to draw the attention of the authorities to the action of the sarpanch.
