MARGAO
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said the long-awaited Cabinet reshuffle will take place, but was not clear on the question when exactly the Congress turncoats will be inducted in his Cabinet.
In fact, the Chief Minister smiled and said the Cabinet reshuffle will take place after a scribe posed him a question when the eagerly-awaited Cabinet reshuffle will come about. Congress-turned-BJP MLA Digambar Kamat, who was coming down from the dais, was also in smiles as the Chief Minister replied to the Cabinet rejig question.
He, however, dropped hints that it may not take long for him to effect a Cabinet reshuffle or induct new members in his Cabinet. After a scribe asked him whether the Cabinet reshuffle will take place before the Lok Sabha polls, he said the Lok Sabha polls are far away and the reshuffle will take place before the polls.
Speculations were rife in many quarters that the Congress turncoats, including Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and Nuvem MLA Alexio Sequeira will be inducted in the Pramod Sawant Cabinet before the Karnataka Assembly election.
With the BJP facing a rout in the neighbouring Karnataka, questions are being raised whether the BJP Central leadership will be in a hurry to induct the Congress turncoats in the Pramod Sawant Cabinet.
It’s now eight months since the eight Congress MLA led by Digambar Kamat, Alexio Sequeira, Michael Lobo and five others had quit the Congress on September 14, 2022 by forming a two-third group to later embrace the BJP.
