The clean up operation undertaken at the 'Garden of steps' by the Margao Municipal Council and how it looks now.
MARGAO
The Margao Municipal Council has finally descended on the 'Garden on steps' near the old Hospicio hospital building to clean up the area of trash, liquor bottles and grass and bushes.
While workers employed by the garbage contactor has collected the dry waste spread in the area, MMC workers were engaged in the work of clearing the grass from the steps.
The Goan had last week highlighted the plight of the “garden on steps” for want of upkeep and maintenance.
Beautified under the MPLAD scheme of former South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha, the steps have been craving for attention for the last one decade.
The situation has now deteriorated with the place turning into a den of anti-social activity as evident by the liquor and beer bottles abandoned at the site.
