The Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes has decided to tackle the issue of stray cattle menace in the municipal jurisdiction.
"I solicit the cooperation of public to identify an area of about 1,000 sq mtrs to create a dedicated place for maintaining stray cattle, which are always found on roads in Vasco," said Fernandes.
"Any suggestions to this proposal maybe kindly bought to my notice and this exercise is undertaken to find a permanent solution to the stray cattle menace in Mormugao municipal jurisdiction. All are requested to cooperate in identifying such a free hold land to eradicate the stray cattle menace," he added.
The MMC chief officer has decided to find a permanent solution to stray cattle issue after receiving a lot of complaints in the port town. Stray cattle moving around freely on roads in Vasco city had become a serious menace to motorists and pedestrians alike.
Recently, many people had even complained that stray cattle had been creating havoc in the municipal garden, which has beautiful flowers and plants.
Many citizens had complained that the cattle owners were deliberately leaving their animals on the roads, leading to many roads mishaps involving stray cattle.
