Manush Da Silva, however, cried foul, saying the civic body has initiated action despite orders of the court which have gone in his favour.
A municipal team along with policemen descended at the fast food centre near the old court building and told the owner to shut operations.
Heated exchanges ensued between Manush and sanitary inspector Sanjay Sanguelkar as the owner produced a copy of the court order for the team's perusal and alleged that action was being initiated against his establishment after he had refused to pay bribes to the sanitary inspector, a charge firmly refuted by the inspectors.
Sanitary inspector Viraj Arabekar told the media that action against the fast food centre was initiated as per the opinion of the municipal legal counsel, who has maintained that business cannot be carried out in the building verandah.
He further claimed that the activity was being carried out without the mandatory trade license from the municipal body.
