The Margao Municipal Council on Friday gave its nod to carry out the work of refurbishing the Sonsodo waste management shed at a cost of Rs 4.26 crore through the Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC).
When the proposal came up for discussion at the special meeting chaired by Chairperson Lyndon Pereira, the Council gave its approval to utilise funds under the 14th and 15th Commission for the project.
The councillors further urged the administration to take steps to ensure that the Sonsodo waste management is put back on the rails at the earliest.
The Goa Waste Management Corporation had in a revised estimate had offered to take up the work of refurbishing the Sonsodo waste management shed at a cost of Rs 4.26 crore.
The proposal will now go to the government for administration and financial approval.
