With the rush for income certificates showing no signs of slowing down, Margao Municipal Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar visited the cash collection room to review the situation and take necessary steps.

Long queues were seen at the MMC cash counter on Monday, with the line stretching outside the municipal building towards the motorcycle pilot stand by evening.

Apart from those applying for income certificates, there has also been a surge in people paying house tax, sanitation tax and trade tax at the start of the new financial year.

After reviewing the situation, the Chief Officer said additional staff would be deployed at the cash section to manage the crowd. “With more staff in place, we expect the situation to ease within the next two days,” he said, adding that the MMC is committed to providing hassle-free services to citizens.
