The Pedda area of Margao witnessed an uproar on Wednesday after locals caught a Margao Municipal truck in the process of disposing of mixed waste in the ward.
The vehicle was carrying mixed waste, including plastic and garden waste, at the time of the incident.
After the uproar, the locals made the MMC workers take back the mixed waste, but questions have been raised in city circles as to who will fine the very authority which has been issuing penalties to unscrupulous elements disposing of waste at the city’s black spots.
'The Goan' understands that a party had approached the civic body with a plea to make available a municipal truck to transport the waste and debris to his property. However, when the truck was in the process of disposing of the waste, locals raised a host of questions, including the moot question of how a municipal vehicle was allowed to transport waste for dumping at an unauthorised place.
