CANACONA
Stating that his nomination for the post of Speaker is finalised by Party's Central leadership, Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Cabinet has lifted several 'cadres' to higher posts in the country.
Later in the evening, Tawadkar was interacting with the Canacona Patrakar Sangh, who called on to congratulate him on his appointment to the post of Speaker. Tawadkar said that he has no regrets and whatever little feeling he had been appointed as a Speaker and not a Minister, will pass off soon.
When asked if he is satisfied with the Speaker's post, Tawadkar said, "I know an issue is under discussion that I should have been made a Minister and not Speaker. See, I have been nominated for the post of Speaker by our party's Central Leadership. No doubt, there are different factors to it, and all factors cannot be explained nor cleared today itself. But, the national leadership view on me is positive as I am from the cadre, a truthful Karyakarta."
"Just like the Central Leadership reimposed faith in Pramod Sawant to be Chief Minister as a strong part cadre, I am also looked upon as a staunch soldier of the party. Without the party, we would not be anywhere. As soldiers, we are honestly following the path shown by our party."
Tawadkar went on to explain how Modi and his cabinet have lifted several cadres to the top posts in the country.
Replying to a pertinent question, Tawadkar said, "Maybe two days and I will feel something for not appointing me as a minister, but I will immediately overcome this sense by my positive thinking and as a Speaker, I have strong faith in my commitment to deliver the best possible to the society at large. As a Speaker, my concept will be to overcome injustice, eradicate pain in society."
Tawadkar went on to explain that though he is a Speaker, his services will continue to be available to the people of Canacona.
"I may be busy during Assembly sessions, and otherwise one or two days of the week, but the opportunities are aplenty and unlimited to serve the people of Canacona. I will always remain connected to my constituency. No one can stop the one who wants to work. I can assure the people of Canacona that by the time this term ends, there will be no issues left unattended in Canacona."
When asked whether running the Assembly and Speaker-related issues would be executed to the satisfaction of all, Tawadkar said, "The manner in which central leadership has shown faith in my abilities, I will not leave stones unturned to track, find and learn anything and everything in the country as to how a Speaker should function, and I have the strength to learn and I strongly believe in my capacity."
