PANAJI
Ahead of the February 4 polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address BJP’s public meeting at SAG Ground, Campal, Panaji on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters in Panaji, BJP senior leader Narendra Sawaikar said, “The meeting will begin at 3.30 pm. The Prime Minister has a special affection for Goa. We are confident that through this meeting he will send a clear message to Goans. All the required arrangements for the meeting have been done.”
The meeting will be attended by BJP Goa election in-charge Nitin Gadkari, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Ayush Minister Shripad Naik, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, State Party President Vinay Tendulkar and all 40 candidates of BJP contesting the polls.
Declining to comment on the number of people expected for the meeting, Sawaikar said that possible arrangements have been done.
Sawaikar also informed that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will release the party’s manifesto for the polls on January 29.
Meanwhile, BJP also criticised the Congress party for their promises made in the manifesto.
“The promises that the Congress has made in its manifesto raises a doubt on whether they have taken this election seriously or not. Griha Aadhar which was our scheme was initially criticised by them, and today they promise to increase it up to Rs 5,000. Presently, 1.5 lakh Goan women avail of this scheme and if they increase it to Rs 5,000, the monthly expenditure would be about Rs 75 crore. They have not even thought about how they expect to raise this money,” he said.
