Notorious land grab accused Mohammad Suhail (48) was yet again arrested by the Crime Branch in connection with ongoing cases against him. The accused was arrested from Quepem, after being on the run for several months. He had reportedly been changing his locations frequently to evade arrest.
A resident of Pillar and originally from Davangiri, Karnataka, the habitual offender was wanted in several land grabbing cases involving serious charges including forgery, cheating, criminal breach of trust and conspiracy.
According to the CB, he has been named in at least a dozen cases between 2012 and 2023 including those under investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), Economic Offences Cell (EOC), and police stations in Mapusa and Porvorim. In most of these cases, Suhail is alleged to have masterminded forged property documents and colluded with others to fraudulently transfer or sell land.
