The 10-day Monsoon session of the Goa legislative assembly is set to begin at 10.30 am on Monday even as the political situation in the State remained fluid with an impending defection of MLAs from the Opposition Congress to the ruling side.
The session is slated to begin with Question Hour according to the agenda put out by the Legislature Secretary Namrata Ulman.
The Assembly is also slated to take up the motion of thanks to the Governor's address and obituary reference to Archbishop Emeritus Raul Gonsalves who passed away last week among others.
Also listed on Monday's agenda is a congratulatory reference to Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao, on being on being elevated as one of the 21 Cardinals by Pope Francis.
Political observers expect the session on Monday to be disrupted in terms of the conduct of business listed on the agenda due to the expected political development of MLAs crossing floors.
It may be recalled that the session, which was scheduled to begin on July 11 and go on until August 12 and transact business for 23 working days had been curtailed to just 10 working days.
The official excuse given by the government was panchayat elections slated to be held on August 10, for which staff will have to be deployed and the government will not be able to manage both -- Assembly session and the panchayat elections.
