Heavy rains that swept across Goa after a prolonged spell of deficient monsoon activity kept Fire and Emergency Services personnel on high alert, with as many as 30 tree-fall incidents reported across the State in a single day, on Tuesday.
One of the most prominent incidents occurred at Altinho in Panaji, where a large tree was uprooted and crashed onto two parked vehicles near the Chief Minister’s official residence.
Among the damaged vehicles was a high-end electric car belonging to Kala Academy Chairman and former Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar. The vehicle was partially damaged, while another parked car was also affected.
Fire personnel rushed to the spot soon after receiving the alert and undertook operations to cut and remove the fallen tree. The debris was cleared to restore normal movement in the area.
