Residents of Morjim have accused Deputy Sarpanch Amit Shetgaonkar of blocking a traditional pathway by dumping stones at Savanna-Morjim, a charge which has been rejected by Shetgaonkar.
Unhappy about the blocked pathway, aggrieved residents met former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar and have sought his intervention to clear the pathway.
A resident, Savitri Shetgaonkar, filed a complaint against the deputy sarpanch at the Pernem deputy collector's office on Monday.
When contacted, PWD (road division) Officer Vilas Tamboskar assured to take action against those accused of blocking the road by dumping stones.
Refuting allegations that he had blocked the pathway, Morjim Deputy Sarpanch Amit Shetgaonkar claimed that he had dumped the stones in the private
land for construction
purpose.
"I have been served with a notice from the deputy collector to free this pathway and I request the deputy collector to first inspect the site," said Shetgaonkar.
"In a written complaint, the residents have claimed that the property in which
I have dumped the stone is a pathway. I have not blocked any pathway and there is nothing wrong if an owner dumps stone in his property," insisted Shetgaonkar.
