The Mormugao BJP Mandal under the leadership of its president Adv. Avinash Naik has officially declared its new committee for the next three years, making it the first constituency in the State to complete the process.
The announcement was made in the presence of Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar.
Speaking to the media, MLA Amonkar stated that the newly formed committee consists of 31 members, including the Mandal president, with a strong focus on women’s representation. “We have ensured 33% reservation for women, and 11 women members have been included in the committee,” he said.
Highlighting the Mandal’s active role in party initiatives, Amonkar stated, “We have been at the forefront of every programme or initiative assigned by the party, with the support of the Mandal and our Karyakartas.”
However, he expressed concern over certain councillors of Mormugao constituency working against him and the party.
“It is disheartening to see some councillors not supporting our efforts. They do not even attend party functions. However, we have received good support from the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC), especially from the Chief Officer. At the right time, when council elections are held, necessary action will be taken,” he warned.
Addressing opposition attempts to misguide the public regarding key projects, Amonkar revealed that certain leaders are opposing the proposed 20-bedded hospital project, fearing it might affect their political careers.
“Some people are misleading the public, suggesting that the land should be used for a playground instead of a hospital. They claim that promoting sports will eliminate the need for healthcare. However, I assure you that this project will be completed before my term ends,” he asserted.
