Former Minister and State President of Nationalist Party (NCP), Jose Philip Dsouza has on Mon day alleged that Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has failed miserably in carrying out pre-Monsoons works in Vasco City.
DSouza, speaking to reporters said that most of the nullahs are not desilted and the gutters have not been cleaned properly.
“God has given a chance to MMC to clear pre-Monsoon works by delaying rains but yet the MMC has done nothing especially in the city areas. I fear that the parts of city would be flooded in the coming days as the mud excavated from the gutters and kept on the sides has flown back into the gutter in the showers experienced in the last few days and hence the works taken by the MMC was of no use at all. MMC should have immediately cleared the mud that was excavated before rains,” Dsouza said.
Social Activist Kiran Naik also speaking on the same lines said that haphazard pre-Monsoon works could cause most inconveniences to students.
