Mormugao Council polls: Almeida, Salkar exude confidence

VASCO
Both Vasco BJP MLA Carlos Almeida and three-term councillor Krishna (Daji) Salkar were confident that their panels would win at the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) elections from Vasco constituency.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the electricity department polling station along with his wife Jennifer to exercise their votes, Almeida said: "The elections have been peaceful and there has been a good response of voters. I am happy that people have come out to vote. All 12 BJP-backed candidates in Vasco constituency will win the elections," said Almeida.

Salkar, who also floated his panel in Vasco constituency, said he had taken rounds in the wards of all his candidates and was pleased by the voter turnout.

“We felt that voting may be down amid the fear of Covid-19 cases, but people acted responsibly and exercised their franchise. I am very confident that my panel will win with a very good margin," said Salkar.
