VASCO: Aam Admi Party's (AAP) South Goa candidate Elvis Gomes kicked off his campaign in Vasco on Thursday, by claiming that Mormugao was one of the most important talukas in Goa but had been neglected by everyone who got elected there.
A large crowd along with members of AAP Vasco were present along with Gomes while he began his election campaign in the municipal market of the port town.
Being the former chief officer of Mormugao Municipal Council, Gomes was given a warm welcome in Vasco and businessmen assured to support him in the upcoming LS elections.
Speaking to the media, Gomes said Vasco was like a second home to him.
"So many people have come out and in fact, the entire municipality has come out today to support me in my campaign. People are fed up and are looking for a change and know whom to vote this time. People are waiting for a change to happen and that is why I have got a tremendous response here,”Gomes said.
“Vasco is my second home and I always felt that Mormugao requires maximum attention. It is the one of the most important talukas in Goa but has been neglected by those who have got elected. I know all parts of Vasco and I will bring about a good change," said Gomes.
He then highlighted the many issues confronting the people like infrastructure and pollution.
“Vasco is a hub of people and a culmination of so many communities can be seen in Vasco. The people get nothing in return. I know Vasco needs a lot of attention and it will get its due attention this time.”
“We have a meeting in Margao on April 13 and we also plan to have a meeting in Vasco as well," added Gomes.
