Mormugao police have on Saturday arrested Mohammed Yusuf Hussain Shaikh (47) of Davangere-Karnataka man on charges of stealing mobile phones.

Mormugao police have also recovered 11 mobile phones worth Rs 3 lakh from his possession.

Shaikh was arrested under Section 379 and PSI Stanley Gomes is carrying out further investigation under the supervision of PI Raghoba Kamat and the guidance of DySP Salim Shaikh.

MAPUSAA group of Calangute youth have called for a peaceful march on Sunday (January 8) in protest against illegal dance bars and other illegalities that was going on in the beach village of Calangute.The youth have requested people of Calangute, the surrounding villages and other parts of Goa to join the peaceful march which will begin at 4 pm from Jambleshwar Temple and wind up at the Baga beach.“This fight is ours and everyone’s.
