Moroccans’ PC extended; no nod for ship to leave

Vasco Police on Wednesday got an extension of two more days of police custody of the two stowaway Moroccan nationals from JMFC court Vasco after their five-day remand ended.

Speaking to The Goan, PSI Nehanda Tavares said JMFC Court Vasco extended the custody by two more days.
 When asked when the stowaways will be deported to their country, PSI Tavares said Vasco Police has already forwarded a report to the Foreigners Registration Office and are waiting for orders.   
To another question whether Vasco Police called the CISF officials to interrogate how the two stowaways slipped past the gate manned by them, PSI Tavares said the CISF officials visited Vasco Police station and gave their statement.
The ship handling officials, who were present at Vasco Police station on Wednesday evening, were reportdely seen requesting PSI Tavares to release the ship M V Greenwich Park which is at outer anchorage and is awaiting police nod.   
The ship handling officials informed PSI Tavares that in shipping line under the UN charter it is the responsibility of the ship handling agents to deport the stowaways safely and humanly to their country and assured that they will bear all the expenses of buying tickets, visas and carry out necessary deportation process.   
The officials requested PSI Tavares to release the ship as the remains of phosphoric acid will damage the ship.   
Sources at Vasco police station said the ship is being held back as senior police officials have to issue NOC which will be sent to the of Mormugao Port Trust chairman and based on police NOC, the port will issue final NOC for the ship to sail and for this it will take atleast two to three days.
