MoRTH issues land acquisition notice for Canacona 4-Laning

The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) has issued a notification calling for objections and suggestions over acquisition of land for 4-laning by improvement of curves and setting up of a Toll-Plaza in Loliem-Polem.

The MoRTH wants to acquire land admeasuring 83,118 sq mtrs at Loliem for the 4-laning of NH-66 from Manohar Parrikar Canacona Bypass Road (MPCBR) end (Km 602.900) to Polem (Km 610.900) at Goa-Karnataka Border and setting up of Toll-Plaza at the end of MPCBR at Maxem in Loliem. For this 8 km route, the MoRTH intends to acquire 8.3118 hectares of land along the NH66 under the Annual Plan 2023-24.

Objections and suggestions should reach MoRTH within 21 days of issue of the Notification, which is published in the Extraordinary Gazette of India, dated August 12.

Incidentally, the area earmarked for acquisition is private land coming under 93 different survey numbers, under different zones including orchard, No Development Slopes (NDS), settlement, paddy fields/Khazans, natural cover with NDS, all in the village jurisdiction of Loliem.

Incidentally, the 8-km stretch from Maxem to Polem on the NH66 will be the last section of NH66 to be taken up for 4-Laning in Canacona taluka, which borders Karnataka.

With the completion of 7.7 Kms MPCBR with 3 bridges (2 major bridges over River Talpona and Galgibaga), MoRTH has already acquired the land for 4-laning of NH66 from Char-Rasta to Bendurdem (via Karmalghat).

According to Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar, work will commence within the next 6 months.
