PORVORIM

Stating that most internal roads have been hotmixed in Pilerne, Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgoankar on Monday said the work to lay underground electricity cables is in progress in the village.

Salgaonkar was addressing a gathering after launching the work to hotmix a road from Mandovi clinic to Nikita Enclave building in Alto-Pilerne in the presence of Pilerne-Marra Panchayat Sandeep Bandodkar, Panch members Karan Govekar, Amarnath Govekar, Raj Malik, Brenda Vaz and locals.

“This road was hotmixed in 2015 but since the work was substandard, a lot of potholes had developed. Since this area is thickly populated and has heavy traffic, this road is being hotmixed again.”

“The basic necessities of villagers are good roads, power and water supply. I have hotmixed most internal roads in Pilerne and work to lay underground electricity cables is in progress in the village.”

“Once this work is completed, all roads which have been dug to lay electricity cable will be hotmixed,” said Salgaonkar.

Commenting on power supply, the Saligao MLA said old transformers of 100 MVA are being upgraded to 200 MVA and new transformers are being installed, wherever needed.

“Similarly, old conductors are also being replaced. Surplus power from Porvorim is being diverted to Pilerne,” said Salgaonkar.

“Development works are being carried out in consultation with panch members of Pilerne-Marra Panchayat,” said Salgaonkar.

Earlier, Pilerne-Marra Sarpanch Sandeep Bandodkar said was a demand from residents in the area to repair and hotmix the dilapidated road.

Thanking the MLA for getting the road hotmixed, Bandodkar said he would request Salgaonkar to take up hotmixing of other interior roads in Pilerne. Panch member Brenda Vaz later proposed a vote of thanks.
