In an apparent jibe at Goa Forward Party (GFP) supremo Vijai Sardesai, the former cooperation minister and
MG Party chief Deepak Dhavalikar has said that ‘some politicians become nervous to party's existence in Shiroda constituency'.
"Contesting Lok Sabha election is not my sole decision, it was discussed in our central committee meeting. We are not part of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), but had supported the front (in Goa) to form the government," he clarified.

Friday had taken potshots against Dhavalikar over latter's statement of (MG Party)
desiring to contest Lok Sabha election.
"Those who feel like to contest Lok Sabha election, they first should step out of the coalition," Sardesai had said, while welcoming Panchwadi (Shiroda Constituency) Sarpanch and others in the fold of GFP.
MG Party's candidate Abhay Prabhu had contested last assembly election securing 5815 votes. Dhavalikar has taken keen interest in Shiroda and has started his political work in this constituency presently represented by Congress MLA Subhash Shirodkar.
On the occasion of ‘Dussehra', the MGP had started its membership drive at the party's office in Ponda.
Speaking at the function, Deepak Dhavalikar had stated that MGP was not the coalition partner of the BJP, but had supported the front to form the government. Hence his party can take decision of contesting Lok Sabha elections.
"Lok Sabha elections will be announced by 2019. We are starting our work to contest both seats. We are not alliance partners of BJP or any other party.
We have supported the front which formed government in the interest of public. Hence we are free to take our decisions," he had said then.
Clarifying his stand over the issue, Dhavalikar said that they are not the coalition partners, but have supported the government.
"One should know that MG Party is the oldest party and has its representation in assembly since liberation. We have constitution and policies. We consider them before taking in any decision. Our central committee has not taken resolution to be part of NDA, will take it only if required," he said.
"I wish and congratulate Vijai Sardesai for his efforts to make his regional party strong. Goa needs regional parties. But he should remember that many regional parties mushroomed in Goa and today they are nowhere," Dhavalikar wryly said.
He reiterated that MG Party supported government formation on condition that Manohar Parrikar becomes chief minister.
"We will be in government till he is chief minister," Dhavalikar said.
Meanwhile, MG Party has convened central committee meeting on Monday at 11 am.
