Biodiversity Management Committee of VP Shristhal and like-minded individuals joined Shree Kamadhenu Goraksha Seva Saunstha, Canacona to tie radium belts to stray cattle roaming on roads. The reflective radium belts were tied to several stray cattle found on the roads, especially at highway section in Vodamoll, Shristhal.
This will not only help motorists alert themselves to impending danger ahead, but will now also help to protect the cattle from being hit by speeding vehicles,
"These radium belts are reflective, so when lights from the vehicles fall on them, the bovines will be visible which can help the drivers to slow down or negotiate their vehicles safely and thus prevent accidents," informed activist Damodar Chari.
"Today, we went tied about 23 radium reflective belts to cattle roaming around the roads nearby areas of Patnem, Chaudi, Ponsulem, and near petrol station situated at Gulem. The activists also handed over about 11 radium reflective belts each to the farmers of Palolem and Sadolxem, respectively, as per their request," Informed BMC Shristhal Chairman Tubki.
Jitendra Amshekar, Dilkush Shet, Vinay Tubki, Damodar Vasant Chari, and Mallesh Govind Nagarcenkar, sponsored the radium belts, while Thulo Bombo Gaonkar, Vinay Velip, Shabu Velip, Akshay Shet, Sourabh Gayak, Shrikant Naik, Tejas Naik Gaonkar and others were also present and made this drive a success.
