The NGO active in Chimbel, Goa Helping Hands with the support of Congress leader has decided to support the anti-coal movement in Goa.
Speaking to the media, Congress leader and patron of the NGO Helping Hands, Rudolf Fernandes said, “The NGO will always protect Goa’s interest. The coal will pollute our Goa. So we have decided to join in the anti-coal protest.”
He demanded that the government instead of bringing mega-projects which will destroy the State should bring good tourism-related projects.
“Mega projects what government has brought are against the wishes of the people. Bring tourism-related projects,” said Rudolf.
NGO Helping Hands was active in protest against the IT park at Chimbel and other successful local agitations.
“We want to give our helping hand to protestors like Goencho Awaaz who are fighting to save Goa,” said one of the member of the Helping Hands.
“For the benefit of 3-4 people, coal has been brought to Goa,” said one activist.
