VASCO
Vasco-based builder and Congress Minority Chairman Nazir Khan on Wednesday demanded the urgent appointment of a chairperson for the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA).
Khan said several files pertaining to builders in Vasco have not been processed, causing a lot of inconvenience to the construction lobby in Mormugao.
"It has been around three months that the government has been formed and while many departments and corporations have already got their chairpersons and heads, the MPDA still has no chairperson. Many builders are struggling and files are not being processed because the chairperson is not present and the entire construction lobby is under a lot of pressure.”
Khan said the MLAs of Mormugao must take up the issue with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and demand an immediate appointment of the MPDA chairperson.
"The government also seeks infrastructure tax from us when we apply to develop our site but the government is giving us nothing in return and who will take up our issue with the government?”
“Our state revenues are declining with tourism and mining activities almost gone and now the construction and real estate line is also struggling," said Khan.
