A series of fire incidents from midnight until late Saturday evening kept Margao fire brigade personnel on their toes, with property worth lakhs of rupees destroyed in the incidents.
A Creta car was destroyed in a major fire near the Old Chowgule College area, while a house at Raia was engulfed in flames, causing damage worth lakhs of rupees.
On Saturday, the fire brigade rushed to Navelim following a call that an LPG cylinder had exploded in a house. The inmates, however, escaped unhurt.
The fire brigade rushed to the Old Chowgule College area at around 12.25 am on Saturday following a call that a Creta car had caught fire. Firefighters brought the blaze under control, but not before the vehicle was severely damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The fire brigade later rushed to Raia following a call that a residential house had caught fire. Fire officials said that although the blaze was brought under control, the premises were damaged, causing a loss of over Rs 1 lakh.
Fire Officer Gill D’Souza told the media that fire personnel rushed to Navelim late Saturday evening after an LPG cylinder exploded in a residential room.
