Colvale Police have registered a cheating case against the CEO of a Mumbai-based food company after a Goa businessman alleged he was duped of Rs 4.82 lakh on the promise of setting up a food franchise at Mall de Goa. According to police, the complaint was filed by Nandkishore Jalan, proprietor of M/s Pushpa Enterprises, based at Madel in Tivim.

Police said Jalan alleged that Ketan Dave, CEO of CNERG Foods Limited, based in Dombivli East, Mumbai, persuaded him to invest in opening a “Mr Idli” food outlet at Mall de Goa in Porvorim.

As part of the proposed franchise agreement, Jalan allegedly transferred Rs 4,82,419 to Dave’s personal bank account for the purchase of kitchen equipment, packing machinery and other materials needed to set up the outlet.

However, police said the accused neither started the promised franchise nor supplied the equipment and materials despite receiving the money, allegedly cheating the complainant of Rs 4.82 lakh.
