Thousands of Muslims poured into the city on Sunday to participate in the colourful procession as they celebrated the birthday of Prophet Muhammad with pomp and religious fervour.
Colourfully decorated floats centred on Muslim religious themes were taken out on the streets of Margao as the young joined the old in the celebration.
The procession, which started at the Jama Masjid, Malbhat wend its way into the city via Pajifond, Old Hospicio building. The road at Pajifond was decorated on the occasion to welcome the procession.
The police made elaborate security arrangements in the city as a precautionary measure. The traffic police also made arrangements for the smooth movement of vehiculs.
