The Goa Cabinet, which met on Friday approved an amendment to the Goa Daman and Diu Land Revenue Code which will now initiate a mutation no sooner a sale deed is complete.

Explaining the changes, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said that now the registrar, along with registering a sale deed will also accept the application for mutation addressed to the concerned mamlatdar as well as the mutation fees.

This, the Chief Minister said, will not only simplify the procedure but will also ensure that there are fewer fraudulent sale deeds as the mutation will automatically reflect.

On receipt of the intimation, the mamlatdar will immediately take action as if the intimation was a report made to him and will proceed to dispose such cases under these rules.

In the present situation in order to carry out a mutation to the land records one had to serve notice of mutation to all persons figuring in Form I & XIV and disposal of applications was time consuming. On various occasions the mutation remains pending due to unserved notices.

The registrar is now bound to forward the mutation application to the talathi within three days of the registering of the sale deed.

Besides this, all data of transactions will be updated which will enable the government to earn additional revenue.
