Inspector General of Police Jaspal Singh who is currently officiating as the Director General of Police claimed the men-in-uniform have made big strides in narco-policing this year even as the anti-narcotic cell (ANC) made another minor seizure of a little over half a kilogram of charas from a 21-year-old Himachal native at Morjim in the wee hours of Sunday.
Singh who presided over the Police Raising Day ceremony held at the police headquarters grounds on Saturday evening, claimed in his speech that the ANC as well as police stations across the State had upped their intelligence gathering related to narcotics and achieved unprecedented success in policing the illegal trade.
Meanwhile, early Sunday morning, a team of the ANC conducted a raid at Morjim and seized 570 grams of charas worth some Rs 2.7 lakhs in the international market from a rented room.
One Sahil Thakur (21), a native of Himachal Pradesh, was arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS)
Act.
Police sub-inspector Arun Dessai, who is attached to the ANC police station leads the investigating team.
