National Press Day will be celebrated in Goa on November 16.
The function will be organised by the Department of Information and Publicity in association with Goa Union of Journalists, Goa Editors Guild, Photo Journalists Association of Goa, Sports Journalists Association of Goa, Electronic Media Journalists Association of Goa and South Goa Journalists Association at 9.30 am at Miramar Residency.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and Secretary, Information and Publicity, Sudhir Mahajan will also grace the function. Eminent lawyer and columnist Adv. Cleofato Almeida Coutinho will be the keynote speaker. Senior journalists Prakash Kamat, Sandesh Prabhudessai, Sanjiv Verekar and Prassana Shirodkar will be felicitated on the occasion for their meritorious services in the field.
The main function will be followed by a symposium on the topic: "The impact and import of cartooning and caricature as a medium of expression of opinion”. it will be moderated by senior journalist Sandesh Prabhudessai. Those participating in the symposium will be Vishnu Surya Wagh, MLA and chairman Kala Academy, Dr Subodh Kerkar, Alexyz Fernandes, Air Commodore Dr. Giles Gomes, Mahesh Divekar and Mahesh Vengurlekar.
