Animal lovers demanded stern action against the person who fired gun shots at the pet dog at Navelim on Thursday. The complaint as well as the animal lovers from different parts of Salcete called on Margao Police station in-charge, PI Suraj Samant to find out the progress of investigation in the complaint filed by a family from Belem-Navelim on Thursday.
The delegation later called on Sub-divisional Police Officer, Margao Sidhant Shirodkar to demand stern action against the accused persons. They demanded that the police verify the gun used in the act of firing shots at the pet dog, saying that the CCTV footage clearly shows the accused person running after the dog with the gun.
Meanwhile, Margao police has said that upon the complaint lodged by Raj Pratik, DSPCA Officer that the police had registered a FIR under section 325 of BNS, 2023 & Sec 11 (1), (c) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
The complaint had alleged that the accused Jovito Fernandes had allegedly fired four pellets from an air gun on the pet dog belonging to Valentina, a resident of Navelim, causing injury to the pet dog. The police are conducting further investigations.
