Four persons, including a minor boy, were arrested after a car driven by the minor rammed into a two-wheeler and injured the rider at Gokulwadi- Sanquelim on Thursday night.
According to Bicholim police, the incident took place at about 8.15 pm when three accused, Jayesh Gawas of Thane-Sattari, Sahil Gawas of Keri-Sattari, and Atul Gaonkar of Surla-Sattari allowed a 17-year-old boy from Surla-Sattari to drive an SUV on a busy major road despite knowing that he is a minor and without a driving licence.
Sahil Gawas and Atul Gaonkar are reported to have accompanied the minor boy, who was under influence of alcohol, as the boy drove the car in a rash and negligent manner endangering human life without taking proper care and caution on a state highway from Honda to Sanquelim direction
As they reached near Raju Kamat's House Junction at Gokulwadi-Sankhali, the SUV struck a motorcycle driven by Pranesh Malik (30) of Kudnem-Navelim in the extreme right lane, causing injuries to Malik, who was proceeding from the Sanquelim Bus Stand to Kudnem.
Sahil Gawas and Atul Gaonkar along with the minor boy later fled from the spot with their car without giving medical aid to the victim nor informing the police about the said accident.
Bicholim police later arrested Jayesh Gawas, Sahil Gawas and Atul Gaonkar under Sections 281, 125, 125(a) and 3&4 r/w 180, 185, 134 (a)of MV Act. They were later released on bail.
The minor boy will be produced before the Principal Magistrate of Juvenile Justice Board, Apna Ghar, at Merces.
