Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar has said that Navelim constituency’s power infrastructure upgrade is nearing completion, with the remaining 10 high-capacity transformers to be installed by the end of this month and underground high-voltage cabling work scheduled for completion by February.

Tuenkar said 31 transformers are being installed at a cost of Rs 5.15 crore to resolve the persistent low-voltage issue. Of these, 21 have already been commissioned. The new 400 kVA and 630 kVA transformers will replace lower-capacity units, ensuring stable and improved electricity supply across the constituency.

He pointed out that underground cabling is progressing steadily, with work finished at 3MTR area and Davorlim, and ongoing in Mandop, Navelim, Sinquetim, Telaulim, and Aquem-Baixo.

Tuenkar urged motorists and residents to cooperate as trenches are being dug for cable laying, assuring that roads will be restored after completion.

In a related move, the MLA informed that all major junctions in the constituency will soon receive new four-arm and three-arm streetlights under panchayat-level proposals. The initiative will enhance safety and visibility, making Navelim’s roads brighter and more secure, Tuenkar added.
