MARGAO: Residents of Navelim and Telaulim on Thursday renewed their plea to the authorities to shift the mobile tower installed on the NH66 near the Traffic junction.

Led by social activist Pratima Coutinho, the residents submitted a memorandum to the district authorities demanding the shifting of the mobile tower.

Pratima later told the media that the residents have been agitating against the mobile tower since 2023, claiming that the PWD authorities have gone back on their word to shift the mobile tower from the NH66.

Pointing out that the residents are not opposed to the mobile tower per se, Pratima said the residents are only demanding the shifting of the tower to a location away from the residential locality.

A local resident pointed out that the report submitted by the traffic authorities have confirmed that the tower has been installed in the middle of the Highway. He further pointed out that any accident at the spot may claim the lives of motorists after crashing on the tower and the structure housing the inverter.
