Ganesh Naik was elected as chairman of the Neura O Grande tenants association at an election meeting in the Neura panchayat hall on Wednesday.
The other members elected as part of the managing committee includes Ravikant Naik (vice chairman), Bhikaro Madkaikar (secretary), Eknath Naik (treasurer) and Kanta Naik (attorney).
It may be recalled that the election was initially slated on February 1, but due to lack of quorum it was postponed to Wednesday.
However, several farmers who had turned out for the election could not participate as their names did not figure in the voters roll.
A large police team from the Agassaim police station was posted at the election venue to maintain law and order.
