Never said noise issue in coastal belt was farce: Environment Min

PANAJI

Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira has decided to personally monitor the situation along the coastal belt and make necessary improvements. He clarified that he never called the sound pollution along the coastal belt a ‘farce,’ as reported in a newspaper. Instead, he mentioned that during his surprise visit, he did not find any clubs or pubs playing loud music.

“I am surprised to read this report in the newspaper claiming that I said this to a reporter. The truth is, I have not been interviewed by any reporter about this issue recently.”

“I never said it was a farce. I had gone to the belt...even my officers were not aware...I am not sure if the driver of the taxi I hired informed them (units in the coastal belt)...throughout the belt...I did not find even one place playing loud music...believe me...I had taken one reporter with me,” he said.

“I have said, and I repeat, it is disappointing that the Hon’ble High Court has had to oversee this issue...I will be going back soon. Give me some time, and I will make the necessary changes,” he added.
