The Congress on Wednesday accused the State government of being complicit over the hate speech issue of Subhash Velingkar with the intent of diverting public attention from burning issues.
Former Karnataka MLA, Nimbalkar, who recently took guard as AICC secretary in-charge of Goa, alleged that the action of the Police to register an offence against Velingkar came after a long delay. Nimbalkar alleged that the police were working in the backdrop to help Velingkar, a former Goa RSS chief, evade arrest.
Nimbalkar also alleged that the government in Goa has played a backroom role to prolong the controversy for political reasons and to divert public attention from the ongoing scams in the government.
Nimbalikar was addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters in Panaji in the presence of GPCC president, Amit Patkar and others.
