The Margao Municipal Council witnessed a change of administrative guard on Friday, with newly-posted Chief Officer Rohit Kadam taking over the reins of office from outgoing CO Agnelo Fernandes.
Assuming office on Friday, newly-posted Margao Municipal Chief Officer Rohit Kadam has promised to set up a grievances cell in the civic body to address public issues even as he laid stress on overcoming the hurdles in garbage management.
“This is a new and challenging posting for me. I had worked as a Chief Officer in the past, but taking over the reins of office of the Margao Municipal body, which is a hot seat of Salcete, is a new challenge for me,” Kadam said, as he took over the reins of administration from his predecessor Agnelo Fernandes.
The new Chief Officer has promised to call for separate meeting with the Municipal staff and the City Fathers to understand their grievances and work out solutions. “I will trying and understand the grievances of the councillors and staff and I may go in for a grievance redressal cell to address public issues. By next week, I will be in better position to prepare a road map how to go about addressing the issues,” Kadam added.
He promised to take the right decisions in the interests of the people of Margao and Fatorda and not to forget the Housing Board area of Curtorim which is part of the MMC.
