Seven family members and an electricity department staffer were among the 23 new Covid cases detected in Canacona, the highest single-day count in the taluka.
According to Canacona Community Health Centre sources, the overall total has now reached 262 and there are now over 154 active cases in the taluka either under home quarantine, in the Covid Hospital in Margao or at Covid Care Centres at Margao, Colva and Ponda.
Sources said a 31-year-old person from Khola and a staffer of the electricity department tested positive for Covid.
Seven members of a family, including a 12-year old girl, were among the 11 people infected in Poinguinim on Wednesday.
A resident from Canacona municipality area but working at the Cuncolim IDC was shifted to the Covid Care Centre, Shiroda, while a 31-year-old person from Loliem but working in Arlem-Margao, has been home quarantined for 17 days.
There were three cases from Shristhal, while the rest are from different municipal areas of Canacona.
