As many as 18,497 of the 19,377 candidates were declared successful at the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (HSSCE) in March, securing a pass percentage of 95.46.
Announcing the results, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) stated that this year’s overall pass percentage of 95.46 was better than last year (92.66%).
Of the 19,377 candidates who appeared for the exams, the results of only 49 students have been kept reserved.
GBSHSE Chairman Bhagirath Shetye said the Class 12 (HSSC) exams were conducted by the Board in two terms.
“While Term 1 was conducted from November 10, 2022 to November 25, 2022, Term 2 was conducted between March 15 and March 31. The final results have been prepared based on the performance of the Term 1, Term 2 and internal assessment,” said Shetye.
“There is no separate mark-sheet for Term 1 and Term 2 exams. Only one mark-sheet will be issued by combining the performance of Term 1, Term 2 and Internal Assessment. The consolidated result sheet will have Term 1 and Term 2 marks, which will be shared with the schools,” Shetye added.
Shetye further mentioned that the girls outperformed the boys yet again this year.
“While 9,316 of the 9,716 girls passed (95.88%), 9,181 of the 9,661 boys passed (95.03%) the HSSC exams.”
He added that students from the commerce stream performed exceptionally well this year, with 5,772 of the 5,980 students passing (96.52%) the exams.
In the Arts stream, 4,701 of the 4,940 students passed (95.16%), while in the science stream, 5,044 of the 5,244 students passed (96.19%). In the vocational stream, 2,980 of the 3,213 students passed (92.75%).
As many as 3,285 students availed of sports merit marks, while 84 students passed the exams with the help of sports merit marks.
Shetye mentioned that the supplementary examination for Class 12 will be conducted by the Board for candidates who are placed in “Needs Improvement” category or who have withdrawn their examination forms.
“The tentative date for this supplementary exam is the first week of June 2023,” said Shetye, while added that the SSC results will be declared by mid-May.
