New waste plant at Sonsodo will benefit all of Navelim: Luizinho

Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro on Sunday told the Davorlim gram sabha members that the new garbage treatment plant proposed by the government at Sonsodo will take care of the waste generated in the villages of Navelim constituency.   

Addressing the gram sabha of Davorlim panchayat chaired by Sarpanch Seah Varak on Sunday, the MLA also unveiled the host of projects proposed by him in Davorlim panchayat area, including the Rs 64 crore underground cabling project, community farming, sub-health centre etc.   

On the garbage management project which was proposed on comunidade land, Faleiro said there will be no need to take the project forward given that the government is now coming up with a new waste treatment plant at Sonsodo. 

“I have been told by the Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo that the new plant proposed at Sonsodo will take care of the waste generated in the neighbouring villages,” he said, adding that waste from all the five villages of Navelim constituency will go to Sonsodo in the future.   

The MLA made the disclosure in reply to a question put up for the gram sabha by member Andrew Rebello, who demanded to know the details of the communidade land proposed to be acquired for waste management. 

The Navelim MLA also dwelt at length on a question that comunidade land should be allotted to the local people for housing purpose, saying that he will be with the local people in this respect.  

Commenting on the row over power transformers, the MLA pointed out that the he has got the government to work out a Rs 64 crore underground cabling scheme for the villages in Navelim constituency.
