The National Fishworkers Forum (NFF) in association with Goenchea Raponkarancho Ekvott (GRE) has declared a month-long campaign in all coastal states against the new Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Notification 2019 from February 23.    The campaign will kick of its first protest at Lohia Maidan, Margao, on February 23 at 3 pm, followed by National protest at Gujarat, Pondichery, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka (February 25), Tamilnadu (February 26), Odisha (February 27), Kerala (March 9) and Maharashtra and West Bangal (March 23).   NFF and GRE has demanded the withdrawal of the CRZ Notification 2019 with immediate effect.   Addressing a news conference, NFF Vice-Chairperson Olencio Simoes appealed to people to attend the national protest at Lohia Maidan on Saturday, claiming that Goa is heading towards a major catastrophe as the new CRZ notification 2019 will undo all special consideration which Goa had in the CRZ notification 2011.   GRE President Agnelo Rodrigues said the CRZ Notification 2019 was a desperate attempt by the government to push Sagarmala plans which will threaten the entire 105-km coastline and 180-km of riverline of Goa.
